Beginner Band
The Beginner Band rehearses Tuesday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm. They are a group of musicians, of all ages, some who have joined in order to learn to play a particular instrument, some who just enjoy playing a variety of music at the beginner level.
The conductor, Reece Jarman, started playing an instrument when he was 10 years old. Reece is a long-standing member of the Redland City Bands and has progressed through the ranks from beginner to accomplished musician and conductor within the organisation.
The band plays at school fetes, outdoor concerts and at the end of year formal concert. The aim of this band at all times is to have fun, play music, meet like-minded people and learn something new.
Wind Ensemble
The Redland City Wind Ensemble rehearses Thursday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm. This band is our intermediate level concert band and is conducted by Allen Clark. The Wind Ensemble caters for musicians who have developed to a level beyond the beginner level but not yet at the more experienced concert band level. It also caters for musicians who would like to rehearse and play a second instrument.
The band has performed at various schools, entered eisteddfods and played at the opening of the Victoria Point Cinema Complex. It plays in parks around the city and at the formal end of year concert.
Membership of the Wind Ensemble covers all age groups and comes from all around the city including the bay islands.
The Wind Ensemble has a solid focus on fun and improvement playing movie themes, show tunes, marches and the occasional hymn.
Concert Band
The Redland City Concert Band rehearses Wednesday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm. This band is a group of musicians who, directed by John Allen OAM, play music of medium to more advanced level. This band presents several formal concerts each year and a number of concerts in the park. The pinnacle event for this ensemble is the annual Bands Spectacular which is a celebratory concert to mark the end of Seniors Week in the Redlands.
This band has entered national band competitions any many eisteddfodau with excellent results.
The Concert Band plays a wide and varied repertoire including marches, classical pieces and hymns.
